Child Protection Services

By legal mandate, Child Protection has a specialized role in working with children and their families.  The goal is to protect children and strengthen and preserve families when possible.  Some of the responsibilities are to:

	Screen all reports of alleged sexual abuse, physical abuse, and neglect
	Provide traditional Child Maltreatment Assessment Services
	Provide Alternative Response Family Assessment Services
	Evaluate the risk of further injury to the child
	Provide truancy/educational neglect services in coordination with school efforts for ages K-18
	Provide In-service Orientations to schools, hospitals, mental health clinics, and the community on child maltreatment, mandatory reporting laws, and Clay County Social Services response
	Coordinate SELF Program designed to assist targeted youth develop independent living skills
	Provide case management service to reduce risk of further abuse and/or neglect to children
