Eligibility for Burial
Eligibility for burial is the same as the guidelines followed at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Members of the National Guard or Reserve forces are not eligible unless they meet current regulations, which are:

Applications for Burial at the State Veterans Cemetery
Application for burial should be made on the state form "Application and Eligibility for Burial in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery". These forms have been sent to all County Veterans Service Offices.
There are no charges for plot or interment of a veteran at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.
Graveliners are required for all burials at the cemetery. Arrangements for graveliners should be made through the funeral director and are the responsibility of the family.
Eligibility for dependent burial is the same as the federal guidelines followed at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Headstones for dependents are the responsibility of the family.
Minnesota Statute requires the Commissioner to establish a charge for the burial of eligible dependents. As of September 15, 1994 this charge is $250.00 for the burial of casketed or cremated remains.
Graveliners are required for interment and shall be the responsibility of the family.
Waiver of fees for indigent eligible dependents may be approved by the Commissioner. Requests for waiver must be submitted in writing explaining the financial circumstances of the person and all pertinent information relating to the request.
Headstones shall be upright, white granite as provided by the USDVA. Headstones shall be ordered by the State Veterans Cemetery Director.
