Description of Payment Option |
Electronic Payment (e-Check)
($ 1.59 Fee) |
Electronic payment using an e-Check constitutes a
request for funds to be transferred from your specified bank account to Clay
County via the Automated Clearing House (ACH) system. You will
be asked for your check routing and account
numbers, check number, and bank name. A
convenience fee of $1.59 is
charged for this option, which is retained by the service Link2Gov.
The following check types are prohibited when paying
taxes online:

Line of credit check
-
Credit card cash advance check
-
Check drawn on an ACH-blocked checking account.
Please do not submit a payment with one of these
checks; it will be returned and your payment will not be valid.

Credit Card Payment
(2.60 % Fee With a Minimum Fee of $3.95) |
The credit card option allows you to pay your
property taxes using your credit card. The following credit cards are
accepted: Discover® Card,
MasterCard®, VISA®
and American Express®. You
will be asked for your credit card number, expiration month,
expiration year and card identification number. A
convenience fee of 2.60 %, with a minimum fee of $3.95, is
charged for this option, which is retained by the service provider
Link2Gov.

The process for paying property tax
on-line includes:

Searching for your property by parcel number or address
Note: If you choose to print the tax statement, the
statement is in the Portable
Document Format (PDF). To view and print the PDF version, you
need the free Adobe®
Acrobat® Reader software.

Providing requested information for
payment option chosen
Upon completion of the on-line
property tax payment process, a confirmation screen will be
displayed and a confirmation e-mail (e-mail receipt) will be sent to
the payer.

Direct Payment
Note:
You
may enroll at any time; however, it is
important that you enroll at least 3 weeks prior to an upcoming
payment date in order to be included in direct payment
for that date.
Direct Debit Enrollment
Information |
You may sign up to participate in Clay County's
Direct Payment Plan for Real Estate Taxes. Your checking or
savings account will then be automatically debited the amount of
your tax payment. The debit will take place on May 15 and
October or November 15 (whichever is applicable). If this date
falls on a weekend, your account will be debited on the next
business day. After signing up for the Direct Payment Plan,
you will continue to be automatically debited the amount of your tax
payment until you notify the
Clay County Treasurer's
Office that you wish to withdraw. |

By U.S. Mail or Special Delivery Service |
Your payment must be postmarked on or before the due
date to be considered paid on time. A penalty for late payment
will be applied if the envelope is postmarked after the due date.
Payment
must be in U.S. dollars by money order, check or draft from a U.S. bank
or U.S. branch. The draft
or check must have the bank’s coded transit number along the bottom
edge. Payments not meeting
these requirements cannot be accepted since substantial collection fees
will be charged by the banks involved.

In Person |
You may pay your Clay County property tax in person at the
Clay County Treasurer’s Office.
A penalty for late payment will be applied
if the payment is made after the due date. Payment

Escrow |
Your lending institution may be escrowing your taxes
for you. This means that you are paying a portion of your
property tax in every payment you make to them. Your tax money
is kept in a special escrow account. The escrow agent is
responsible for paying your property taxes by the due date.
Contact your mortgage company or lending institution if you have
questions regarding escrowing. |
