Uniform Commercial Code (UCC)The Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) system is used to perfect a lien on personal property. Information is provided on these records to the lending community for the purpose of determining loan agreements. UCCs No Longer Filed in Clay County The Clay County Recorder's Office is no longer a satellite office for the Minnesota Secretary of State. Therefore, the Clay County Recorder's Office no longer files or searches UCCs. However, we continue to record UCCs attached to real estate, often know as Fixture Finance Statement Mortgages. We also continue to record Tax Liens and provide Tax Lien searches. Our neighbors, Becker and Norman County Recorder's Offices continue to file and search UCCs. If you prefer to file or search using paper documents and prefer to keep the fees at a local level, please contact Becker or Norman County.
