We provide vigorous and high quality representation to indigent defendants in Minnesota state courts; 

We foster and promote the high standards and ideals engendered by the Bill of Rights and the Minnesota Constitution; 

We ensure that justice in Minnesota state courts is administered to all persons on a fair and equal basis, regardless of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, disability, sex, sexual orientation, or status with regard to public assistance;   

We work with the court system to improve access to justice;

We help the Legislature and concerned citizens to develop appropriate strategies to prevent crime; 

We work with the policy makers to develop rational, humane, community-based responses to crime; 

We advance the effectiveness of Minnesota's legal system through excellence in legal scholarship and through ongoing education and training of the criminal defense bar.
