Cloverbuds
4-H for kids in Kindergarten - 3rd grade

Membership

4-H welcomes boys and girls in grades kindergarten through 3rd grade from all backgrounds into Cloverbuds. The entire family can join in projects and activities.

Some children in grade three may be ready for 4-H project work. Third grade youth can register for projects with permission of their parents and local University of Minnesota Extension staff.  Contact your local Extension office to get your family involved in 4-H.

4-H Cloverbud Program

Kids all over Minnesota learn, grow and have fun in the 4-H Cloverbud program. It is designed especially for kids in kindergarten - 3rd grade.  Young children have a special way of learning. 4-H Cloverbuds:

  • appeals to a child’s natural curiosity, high energy level and active learning style.

  • lets kids try new things, learn new skills and express themselves.

  • promotes creativity and discovery without emphasis on competition. 

  • helps kids develop skills that build confidence and positive self-esteem.

4-H Cloverbud Goals

  • Develop a positive self-concept

  • Develop a love of learning

  • Develop competencies in life skills for self-understanding, social interaction, decision making, learning to learn, and mastering physical skills

  • Gain knowledge in sciences, literature, and the arts through hands-on learning

  • Develop positive attitudes about learning

  • Develop ongoing relationships with caring adults and older youth who serve as positive role models

  • Explore family and community relationships

  • Develop an understanding and appreciation for social and cultural
